It has almost been a year ago now, during the building phase of our second kindergarten, that SRF1 contacted me about their anniversary program of "Auf und davon". The days of filming, the grand opening of the kindergarten, as well as the first day of class have already ended months ago. In the meantime the classrooms are filled with life by 75 happy children, and the memories of the very busy time during the building phase are fading fast. Interacting with the other teachers and the kindergarten children is my favorite part of my job as a kindergarten teacher.

Financing of Toys and Art Supplies, the School Garden, Infrastructure, Structural Measures on existing Kindergartens

I recognize the demand of supporting already existing kindergartens and not just building new ones. (They often do not even have a ball). In addition to acquiring toys and art supplies, musical instruments and other supplies, we want to cultivate school gardens and if necessary, help with structural measures (toilets for better hygiene, new roofing for more safety, enlarging classrooms, etc.). And now I would really love to work out a concept for toys to get manufactured here in Senegal - this would also help to create jobs.

New Educational Concept

The collaboration with the inspectors already began with the planning of the kindergarten in the district of Goudiabya. Since the Senegalese School system has been revised, using new forms of education and striving to teach with a more playful approach and offering the children all-round encouragement and support, it corresponds with our interest. Unfortunately there are not very many teachers that have had the chance to gain experience in this new direction. So I am very happy to except the offer of the inspectors to expand my field of activity as a "Formatrice" to the whole region.

Advanced Training Program for Teachers

The opportunity to actively help develop a new method of education is challenging, but also very exciting. Training teachers and offering them support, as well as exchanging ideas is a great gain for me too. In addition I will become involved in different kindergartens. It is important to me, to offer my help in creating equal conditions for all of the kindergarten children in the city of Sédhiou and not just in Goudiabya. 

Beneficial Education and Development Opportunities for Everyone

To expand my field of activity to the whole region, brings me closer to my vision of "Equal Opportunity and Education for Everyone", this is also in accordance with our association. With joy and conviciton I participate in class, teaching the children table games and games sitting in a circle, doing handicrafts, coloring, singing, dancing and teaching them other things as well, so the children can gain experience in many different areas. It is very impartant to me, to help create a playful and joyful learning environment together with the other teachers, so the youngest can discover their own interests and talents.
